Winnipeg, MB
Originally based in Kenora, Ontario, Architectural and Community Planning Incorporated (ArComPlan) has worked with dozens of First Nations communities on housing and infrastructure projects. In cooperation with CMHC, ArComPlan developed and tested its first 'integrated utilities unit': all of the utilities needed for a home were packaged into a 20' shipping container and connected to a home in a remote region of Ontario. Drinking water, space heating, electricity, hot water, and wastewater were all handled by the container unit, dubbed 'EcoNomad'. That concept has now been developed into specialized units that serve the oil patch in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, remote work camps from B.C. to Labrador, and isolated tourist and research facilities. Each unit is tailored to provide electricity, fresh water, hot water, space heating, wastewater treatment, or solar/battery energy in whatever combination is required for the situation.
Now based in Winnipeg, ArComPlan continues to innovate utility solutions for a wide range of clients as well as manufacturing utility units for shipment all over Canada. Many of ArComPlan's components and processes are patented.
